Photography is a very personal art form. You may love a particular shot but the person next to you probably has other ideas about the shot.

The following list is my current top ten favourite photographs (changed on 9/3/08). I found it terribly hard to choose ten shots from all my photos but some simply stirred up emotions that are hard to explain and thus were featured. The top ten is certainly not written in stone and thus will change every now and then.

Feel free to contact me and let me know what your favourite shots are. Remember, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

10 This photo was taken on an estuary off the mighty Amazon and is my favourite water shot. Not only do I like the way the sunrays biblically break through the top of the cloud but also the way the light reflect symmetrically in the ripples below.

09 This photo was taken in Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia. I stumbled across a desert full of burned out and wrecked train carriages. Over the decades these iron monsters have been subject to some of weathers harshest climates. I really enjoy how the deep blue of the sky clashes with red and white of the train carriage to give a striking image.

08 This photo was taken whilst trekking through the cloud forests of Costa Rica. What an amazing place; one minute you can see for miles, the next a cloud has rolled in and you can only see a few metres. I noticed a break in the forest with a magnificent tree in the middle of the clearance. The scene looked like it came from a Tim Burton film … eerie!

This shot really does encapsulate the California coast. The fact I was having such a great time travelling the West coast of the USA is conveyed by the warmth and beauty of the photo.

06 ‘The lovers’ was taken whilst travelling through Argentina. There is warm purity about this photograph. The man is obviously very protective over his ‘lover’ and this is made even more poignant as they are sitting beneath an erotic Grecian sculpture. Candid magic.

05 ‘Modern life’ was taken whilst travelling through Peru. The style of the photo veers away from my usual approach and has had its contrast increased to bring out the dog and the ‘rico’ sign. Normally I would have one focal point in a photograph but this time the eye is not able to rest on spot reflecting the hectic lifestyle of this village.

This photo was taken whilst out walking in Colonia, Uruguay. There seemed to be an abundance of rotting car shells parked up on the streets of Colonia and this beauty caught my eye. It has a particularly melancholy human look about it especially the way its headlights like eyeballs have been plucked from their sockets. I now have an A0 sized print of this car in my lounge and it looks fantastic.

Bokor hill was taken whilst I was travelling round Cambodia. This building was used as a casino/hotel and part of the eerie French resort of Bokor Hill. The building had a real menace to it and I feel this is caught perfectly in this image. We weren't able to stay long as one member of the group got so spooked out after walking through the casino that we had to leave.

This shot was taken whilst trekking through a monestary in Cambodia. This photo is definetly one of my favourite shots when it comes to colour. I especially enjoy the silver fleks caused by the ponds ripples and the fact that colour of the fishermans hat mirrors the orange of the tree leaves. Overall the area was increadibly peaceful and I feel this comes across in this shot.

I took this photo whilst having a deserved break on a Cambodian road. Schools had literally broken up for the day and all the children were excitedly running home for dinner. Not only do I enjoy the lay out and compsure of this photo but I also like the way it mimicks "vietnam napalm" by Nik Ut; however this time the children are happily running towards comfort rather than from a hostile invader.
